Yesterday I turned 25. Not sure how to feel about getting older other than I’m always learning and growing wiser if ever so incrementally. On my way to work around dawn I saw a gigantic owl swoop down in front of my car and land on a power line. So I think this proves the wisdom part. Or that Athena is watching over me and a great military victory is surely heading my way. But I was feeling loved and appreciated and had a nice day even after having to work in the wee hours of the morning.

Yesterday I drove past those people bathing in their pickup truck again. Makes me wonder what they do when they want to drain it, do they just open the tailgate and let the water gush out everywhere?

Labor day weekend is proving to be grueling at my job. Good thing I have the wonder drug ritalin on my side. Makes me feel like the guy from mariokart who rides around on a little cloud and saves you when you drive off the edge.

The other day some knucklehead dented my car door in a parking lot. His bro came out and said hey come back tomorrow and we’ll take it to my auto shop and fix it for free. But then he took another look at my car and said honestly do you just want some money to do what you please with cause your car is already beat up enough its probably not worth fixing. And I was like sure! I fully agree lol. So I’m going to use the $200 he gave me to buy a new bass guitar #silverlining

Looking around the basement of my work today and there's some weird stuff in there. Like a giant rusty metal slide that originates from some upper floor. And a bunch of super old looking cabinetry & furniture. My boss said the cabinets were from when part of the building was a pharmacy and had these custom made shelves for all their vials and whatnot. And the slide was from when it was a grocery store and they would send meat and produce down there. He was telling me about all the different businesses that had occupied the building including a children's theater at one point. I love learning about this kind of stuff, it puts into perspective how old a place really is when you find out just how many different iterations it had. I think about my apartment which is almost 120 years old and wonder about all the past lives lived here...it's kinda mind blowing to me. And my gf thinks it's haunted as a result, which I don't necessarily agree with but who knows what sorts of crap went down here...

On my way home today I drove past a house and they had turned the bed of their truck into a pool, complete with floaty toys and a sprinkler to induce a fountain like effect. Felt like I witnessed some true missouri activities #hellyeah. Around May my car's AC ran out of juice so it's been a long summer for me...and I was envious of these people.

At work I discovered they have a candy draw for customers and I'm addicted to treating myself through the day. Feels like it's Halloween in August

Started a new job a few weeks ago at a coffee shop and it is chill for the most part but also exhausting. I've worked kitchen jobs in the past but never full time and it just takes it out of me. Hasn't killed my beaming smile and can-do attitude just yet...although I did crash out yesterday after I spilled a whole bucket of mop water on the floor ;(.

One thing I like is that they have 3+ bluetooth speakers for the staff to use and boy do I use em. If its 9am and no one has claimed aux yet better believe I'm riding that thing til close. I just enjoy being work DJ and I have some ready made playlists from my previous jobs with songs that ideally aren't offensive but also not boring. I loaded up the 2007-2012 indie hits and my millenial boss said "This playlist is exactly what we would listen to at parties in college...reminds me of dudes wearing jeans with blazers. Like wow another one of you guys, you are so original." like yes #exactly that was what I was going for. I lowkey love doing that to people, once I have a general vibe of their age nostalgia baiting them with hit songs from their youth...and there's always a funny anecdote or memory, I always find it interesting and enjoy connecting with people that way.

In other news me and le GF went to see Greg Mendez at Off Broadway which was sweet. Small crowd but it felt appropriate for his music. 3rd show in like a month at Off Broadway can't get away from that place...

Today I am almost done with painting these two dressers that me and my gf bought for $5 total. They were originally santa claus red and white but are now “espresso” brown. This is my first home-improvement/diy project at least in my adult life so I’m quite pleased with the results #cityboy

On friday I went to the venezuela earthquake relief benefit show @ Off Broadway which was awesome. This is the 4th local show I’ve been to in STL and I’ve really been blown away by how cool and talented all the local bands are here. So keep it up y’all. Looking forward to seeing more shows and getting to know the scene better…
